Phase one of my first large project was at my home in Westwood NJ.  My  home was built in the 1930's and the best view from the home was out the back and all that existed on that wall was a fairly small window and a door to the "shotgun" kitchen.  We wanted to open up the dining room and kitchen as well as the back of the house to are yard.

One of the nicest aspects of this project was building the doors and windows out of Paduak - a beautiful natural red wood!  This first part was removing the existing window, supporting it from the outside, adding the new windows and doors and then closing back up the back wall - it can get pretty cold in the winter!

The final phase was the kitchen itself.  I built all the cabinets from natural cherry or Padauk.  I added a pantry and build four new doors for the bath, basement and pantry.  My parents came out from California to help with the demo.

I don't just rely on friends, family and recommendations I have also been with Home Advisor/Angi Leads for a couple of years now.  Their site is a great way to find both unlicensed and licensed contractors.

Handymen are by definition unlicensed contractors and the work we perform is different than a licensed contractor.  Many of these projects were done on my own homes and are only meant to reflect the breadth and quality of my work.

Bathroom Santa Clara

Updating a bathroom before the new tenants move in.  I had a couple of weeks and a few thousand dollar budget.  The tiles and cupboard were provided as well.

Phase two of my home kitchen remodel was to break out the wall between the two rooms to create a peninsula for the stove and a glass wares cabinet.  Of course we are living in the home at the time and trying to minimize the mess and disruption!

In the home that I grew up in here in Sunnyvale, my mom needed to update her bathroom.  I didn't have to tear things down to the studs for this project.  The pipes were in the right place and I didn't need to add new  electrical.  Rather than building new cabinets my mom choose some off the shelf one's from Lowe's.  I think they looked pretty good and were very much to her taste!

Flooring Projects

I'm asked to a lot of floors.  The project size varies from client to client by I try to do what needs to be done.

I also remodeled our one full bath.  It was a major project and we still were using it throughout the project!  Working with large-format tiles was fun but a challenge to get them flat on a floor that curved nearly 3/4 inch from the wall to just 16 inches away.  Lots of leveling compounds were used!

I removed the old window and replaced it with a fixed double pane sand-blasted glass window.  I don't really like curtains and the view out the side window looks directly into the neighbors back-yard.  I still wanted to have an unobstructed view of the sky however so I included a small clear window above.

When I was almost ready to tile I decided that I would really love to have a window in the shower.  I quickly built another window out of Paduak and installed it.
